Some people learn best on their own; others prefer learning in groups. You can choose the environment that works best for you.All classes are Open Level & so are suitable for those new to Pilates as well as those more familiar with the method.
Focus of the Month
Every class is 60 minutes long. Whilst each individual class stands alone, the exercises are built up & advanced as each calendar month goes on; the more you attend the more you will gain. We start a new theme or set of exercises at the start of each month. You may join any class at any time though!
Joseph Pilates' Method
Joseph Pilates created an exercise and body conditioning technique in the early 20th Century which he named 'Contrology'. It is this technique that evolved to become the modern interpretation of The Pilates Method.
Pilates works on the deep core and stabilising muscles of the body (pelvic, abdominal, back & shoulder muscles) in a challenging yet safe way to:
tone & condition the whole body
identify postural imbalances & improve posture
strengthen abdominal, back & shoulder muscles
ease lower back pain
enhance functional mobility
improve balance & coordination
heighten body awareness
reduce the risk of injury
improve sports performance
alleviate body ailments
strengthen the immune system
relax & unwind
create a healthier, fitter and more functional body
Pilates is a set of low-impact exercises performed in standing, seated and lying positions. The principles that guide the Pilates method include a concentration on precise, flowing movements and a steady, controlled breath.
All classes are non-competitive and suitable for men and women of any age or fitness ability. Each exercise is performed in a slow and controlled manner, and all exercises can be adapted to suit your individual needs.
To achieve optimal all-round fitness and health, whatever your fitness goals, Pilates is a great compliment to both aerobic and resistance training that you should include in your weekly schedule. Like any form of exercise, regular attendance is paramount to gaining most benefit from it.
In some respects, Pilates conditioning is like the physical aspects of Yoga (asana/postures). Both are considered disciplines that engage the mind and body integrated with the breath; both emphasise deep breathing and smooth, long movements that encourage your muscles to relax and lengthen; both can build strength and improve flexibility. While Yoga asana can often require moving from one static posture to the next without repetition, Pilates involves "flowing" through a series of repetitive movements that are dynamic, systematic and anatomically based.

“After reading an article on Pilates, and its health benefits, I decided to give it a try for myself. As I was completely new to Pilates I started with a group of one-on-one sessions with Kev to get myself familiar with the practice. Kev was more than welcoming and patient and I have since attended his weekly Tuesday evening class. Not only have my strength and energy levels increased, Kev has also inspired me to pursue other ventures relating to health and fitness outside of Pilates. His dedication doesn't just begin and end with his sessions. I would recommend Pilates to anybody regardless of age or ability.”
“Following a back injury and advise from my physiotherapist to strengthen my core using Pilates, I contacted Kevin and arranged a one-to-one session. I was really impressed, the session was conveniently arranged in my own home and was appropriate to my specific needs. Kevin was friendly and knowledgeable and I feel confident in his ability to safely help me with my recovery. I enjoyed the hour enough to have now joined one of his classes which I'm finding to be both fun and beneficial."
“We've been coming to Kev's Tuesday night classes for over 12 months now. We both have very different expectations of what we need from the class and find the exercises set by Kev suitable for us both. Increased flexibility, strength and range of movement have been the result of our weekly visits - thanks Kev!".”

“I have been taking Pilates classes with Kev twice a week for a few months now. The classes are really enjoyable. Kevin is a lovely guy and we have lots of laughs. I cannot believe how much my shoulder problems have improved (they have loosened up considerably) and I especially enjoy the relaxation session at the end.”
“Since going to Kev’s classes I can feel and see the difference in my core muscles and my posture! Some of the moves are tricky but Kev explains them really well and helps us get there in the end! Kevin helps me to challenge myself more and more every week and push that little bit harder. It’s a very graceful exercise, hard work too but definitely worth it. The relaxation session that Kev gives at the end is super and helps me unwind at the end of my day too. Great class."
"I find Kev's method of instructing really helpful. He's very good at explaining the positions you need to be in for each exercise; not only by showing you but also describing the way the body should move in easy to understand examples."
